Media Monday - Martin Luther King Junior Day

What is today? Martin Luther King Junior day. Who is Martin Luther King Junior? He was an African American visionary who had a vision of the future of America with all of us being together despite the color of our skin. Martin Luther King Junior peacefully protested for African American rights, and it worked - segregation was ended! (Sadly not all racism has come to an end, but that's a different, sadder story).

You guys know that none of my four dolls are African American, so I can't really do the best thing here and recreate some of the more iconic images of Martin Luther King Junior's history (even though most dolls are female, but you get my point).
If you don't know the story behind this picture, you really need to go read a history book.

Martin Luther King Junior was one of my idols growing up. I placed (and still place, honestly) him next to Helen Keller as people who inspire me to reach above and beyond. All of us, no matter what the color of our skin is, should take a page out of MLK's book - violence is not needed to resolve an issue, skin color doesn't and should never matter, and we all should be friends and not enemies. Sadly, the reality is that there will ALWAYS be at least one person who decides to let hate in their heart and hate on a group of people. It's a sad truth. But if more people were like MLK, the world would be a better place.

That being said,  the owner of the Instagram account kh_agdolls has been kind enough to let me use some pictures of her beautiful Melody, whose story takes place during Martin Luther King's times! Thank you, Kristine, and please make sure to check out more of her pictures on Instagram!

I'd like to extend an invitation of picture sharing to the readers. Feel free to send me pictures at my email (sweetpeacaty@gmail.com), be sure to tell me your dolls' names and include 'Pictures' in the subject line so I don't think it's spam! Thank you all so much for reading this blog.
