Sewing Sunday - How to Buy Stuff
I know, I know! You guys are suffering from 'save money by buying stuff here' fatigue. I'm not doing all that fun 'look at the fabric and stuff you can buy' with images and links and stuff.
Joann's is where my mom and I go to get crafty stuff. She knits, sews and cross stitches while I just... sew. I am handmaking (actually handmaking - aka handsewing) my doll's own wardrobes at the moment. Yeah, yeah, you guys with your rich selves can go and buy all your doll clothes and have them be the way you want but I have to be difficult and make everything myself so it will be perfect to me. Plus it gives me room to learn how to make clothes.
They're having a yarn sale (mom is happy) and a fabric and pattern sale (Scarlett is happy!). We went on Wednesday to get crafty stuff.
What I usually do is recycle old clothes (ones that have holes and can't be donated to the thrift store anyway) and get fabric scraps from places like Joann's and/or Wal-Mart. Yeah, I can go online and buy fabric, but there's this sense I like to use when picking fabric. It's called touch.
I know I can't be crazy for wanting to have my dolls be in comfy clothing. I don't want scratchy, itchy, stainy clothes on them. I want them to be comfy.
And if you're like me, a poor little kid who missed out on Pleasant Company's clothes and accessories, there are patterns for some of them! For free! On AG Playthings! I have them downloaded on my computer and I've been putting off actually printing them out because... *insert excuse here*

You can also just buy handmade doll clothes on Etsy. But beware of the Generi-dress. That sleeveless monstronsity is EVERYWHERE on that site... I made one myself but had the misfortune of choosing an ugly fabric and had no elastic in it so I tossed it out once I was done and never made another Generi-dress again.
That's all for now, folks. Next week I'll work on something worthy of being put here, on my blog, for the world to see. Right now I'm not too proud of my sewing prowress.
