Tutorial Tuesdays - My Doll's Room {Work In Progress}

Here's my doll room as of now. It isn't that great of a doll room compared to other people as I don't have a big great pile of funds for my dolls (even if I did, I'd end up spending the money on something more important like food or something). I'm doing the best I can for the cheapest I can. I prefer to spend my money on my doll's hair and clothes compared to their doll room. I'm not too into having a dollhouse for my 18-inch dolls, I find having bathrooms for my dolls to be very weird! Yes, I could just put them on doll stands and have those doll stands on shelves... but I prefer the ease of access leaving them off stands and shelves does.

Their 'living room' is underneath a folding table I use for my sewing and crafts. The bench/couch is made from the AG box Nanea came in. The shelving behind the couch is made of a wooden box I've had since childhood and propped up by Nanea's accessory and holoku dress box. They have some knick-knacks - Mickey Mouse Macy's (I think) Christmas Snow Globes from 2008, 2010 and 2011 and two figures of a man and a woman made from a jade-like substance. Nanea is petting their dog Jip (actually a TY cocker spaniel I found at a garage sale) while telling Bridget the story of Elmer the elephant while she plays with the corresponding toy.

The 'bedroom' is the bottom shelf of some shelves that I use for storage. Their room is lit by holiday lights that I placed on the shelf above them which I plug in when I want their room to be lit. Their bed is made up of an extra pillow and blankets (including one that was made by my step-grandmother and one I've had since I was a baby). Samantha and Kaleia, the older girls, are hanging out in the bedroom and gossiping about fashion and boys. I also made a collage featuring pictures from the Maplea and American Girl catalogs I've had left over.

I have decided not to opt for single beds for everyone due to space constraints, but there are many a doll tutorial for making a bed, most of which require boxes. If you don't have boxes, feel free to do what I did and just use an extra pillow you have.

These 'rooms' are a large work in progress, I know they need some polish and whatnot. I'm on the lookout for a jewelry box to turn into a dresser (thank you LADL for that wonderful idea!!), but it'll take a while because my local thrift store is very small and tends to be overpriced.

Thank you guys for looking into my doll's little world and I will post updates/pictures when this room improves.
