Wednesday Wisdom - A British Child
As to be expected from a line named 'A British Child', these dolls are from Britain and its history [1]. They are made by MCA Creations (not related to MGA Entertainment) [1]. There were two dolls - Emma-Louise (Victorian Era) and Jane Delacey (Tudor Era). They began production in 2006 [1] [2]. A British Child seemed to cease production sometime in 2008/2009 [3], which I assume because the website started going offline. No new dolls were ever added and only 3 items of clothes were made for them, two for Emma-Louise (Best Blue Dress, Red Coat) and one for Jane (Best Golden Dress) [3]. Now there is scant evidence that they even existed in the first place...

Now, for our favorite part... why do I think these dolls are being made anymore? I think it has to do with the face mold, maybe. It reminds me of Springfield Dolls (a cheap 18-inch doll line). That may be just me... The two dolls also look similar. The only big separating thing between them is their hair color - Jane has a little bit of a redder tone in her hair. It could also be because the creator did not feel like making the dolls anymore or that people stopped buying them because there isn't much of a variety here... 2 dolls, 3 sets of clothes and that's it. A British Child may not be missed because of A Girl for All Time launched in 2012 and is still going strong and is surely becoming Britain's American Girl with a historical and modern line.
