Wisdom Wednesday - Trinity Designs Inc.

Finally, back to companies. This company is still up and running to this day, so give them a visit at http://www.trinitydesignsinc.com.

The name Trinity Designs Inc. probably is the last thing you would think of when naming your doll company, but the name works well for this African American owned realistic African American doll making company.
The Essence of a Delta

Beginning production in 2001 [1], the goal at first was to make the epitome of an African American woman belonging to a soritory just like the original creator and owner Niccole Graves [2]. After Graves could not find a proper fashion doll depicting an  African American sorority sister [3], she began Trinity Designs Inc..What started out as one doll soon became a collection of dolls to celebrate every African American Greek sororites. In 2006 [1] they began prototyping the dolls. In 2010 the dolls began production [3].

Essence of Lady Ivy

The first doll to be released was the "Essence of a Delta" doll in summer 2010 [3]. The next three dolls were part of a pre-order campaign and released in 2011 [3]. The first dolls were 16 inches tall (compare that to Barbie's 11 - 11.5 inch height) [2]. Trinity Designs Inc. then moved on to start making 12 inch dolls, including a child's 12 inch doll [3]. The dolls also included audio parts that allowed them to sing [3].

In 2012, it was reported that Mrs. Graves decided to liquidate the rest of the supply of her dolls [3]. All the dolls were marked off their original prices of $149 to sell them faster [3]. Yet a #slaycancer line of dolls was announced in 2016 [3] with the dolls hopefully coming out this year [1]. Natural haired dolls and dolls for children are going to come out soon [1].
Essence of Lady Sigma

When asked what she wanted new customers to know about her and her dolls, Miss Graves said: "My dolls are made with extreme detail in mind. We attempt to capture the essence and individual beauty in every doll that we design. The fabrics we select are excellent quality; the accessories include purses, jewelry and fur capes. Our Signature sorority dolls are also equipped with audio, so yes, they sing. The audio is housed in the doll stands that we provide for each doll. Our dolls also have custom sculpted hands. For example, “The Essence of a Delta” doll can be posed to hold up a pyramid and “The Essence of Lady Ivy” holds up her pinky finger. These special details really capture the essence of the doll it celebrates."

From all the pictures I have seen, these are truly beautiful dolls. At the time of writing this, Essence of a Delta has sold out, Essence of a Zeta is going to be retired once her stock runs out and is on sale for $111.99 (instead of $159.99), Essence of Lady Ivy will be retired after stock runs out and is on sale for $111.99, Essence of a Lady Sigma is retired (if you try to buy her, you will be redirected to a page that says that she is indeed retired) and Essence of a Star is still available at full price. These dolls are defintely worth keeping an eye on for when they come out with their next dolls!
