My Local Toys "R" Us {Photo Heavy!}
I went to my local Toys R Us today. Seeing that iconic sign brought a smile to my face but seeing it flanked by yellow 'going out of business' signs did make my heart sink a little. Despite going into liquidation, they still have Easter hours. This is my first time at this location, the one I most likely went to as a child was one of the ones that closed.
These two things are what you see when you first come into the store. Most everything is 10% off, with Legos being 5% off and fidget spinners are 30% off.
My mother and I's first stop was the Calico Critters section. For a store facing liquidation, the selection was quite alright. The twins and triplets were the ones to face the least stock. That's my mom's arm in the first picture, probably trying to figure out how much we got off for the Ellwoods Elephant family we picked up. (Don't worry, I'll post a new updated look at my CC collection on Friday). I have reeled my own poor, innocent mother into liking Calico Critters... I really liked the displays here, nowhere else I have done shopping for CCs at lacked this feature... We got the elephants and a sandbox/pool for the toddlers.
American Girl and Wellie Wishers, like Calico Critters, are also 10% off.
They also had some of the older Mix and Match stuff there as well.
The lineup of Truly Me dolls that they have at my Toys R Us, sorry that the 10% off flyers obscure everything.
Despite not having Gabriela herself, they do have some of her stuff.
Toys R Us, at least ours, had a Claire's inside of it. It's weird, especially since Claire's themselves have declared bankruptcy recently. I found myself wondering if Claire's would go down the same path as Toys R Us. This section was a jumbled mess, at least in some parts.
In conclusion, Toys R Us will be slightly missed. Some people are glad to see that it is going, others are sad or mad about it. I didn't see a lot of kids there - in fact, I saw only one mom in the store with her kids and as we left another mom went in. A lot of adults were in there (other than the employees). The neighboring Hamrick's had more cars parked in its parking lot.
